The forest's four seasons are not a change of colour but a whole change of sound, humidity and how you walk.

Entering the forest by season

Spring opens at low elevation first, summer brings the fullest cloud, autumn colour advances along the ridges, and winter exposes the skeleton of the forest. Choosing a month is choosing a way of seeing.

More important than collecting sights is staying long enough on one trail to hear the weather pass through the canopy.
